Donate :: Giving Back To Geneseo and Brodie
Earlier this year, there was a
split between SOPA and the Student Association; which has
funded music ensembles and the theatre and musical theatre season
for decades. Under the current Student Association president, there
has been an increasing antagonism toward SOPA organizations due to
their co-curricular nature, involving faculty participation as
directors, and the awarding of credit.
Next year's theatre season will
be self-supporting, and students and patrons will see a modest
increase in ticket prices to $7. To ease the transition away from
SA., Musical organizations, including the Symphony Orchestra, Wind
Ensemble, Jazz Ensembles and Carol Choristers will need to find
alternative sources of funding. If you have ever considered
donating to SOPA, this would be an excellent time to do it.
Please consider giving back to the School of Performing Arts. These
are especially hard times in public education in general, and
especially in the state of New York. Tax deductible contributions
for any program of your choice (a specific ensemble or a degree
program) can be made through the Geneseo Foundation.Recent alumni
contributions have enabled us to conduct tours, to bring in guest
artists, and to provide some of our outstanding students with
scholarships. In particular, The Geneseo Foundation is collecting
donations for the Robert M. Isgro Endowed Scholarship
in Choral Music; if singing with Dr. Isgro was an important part of
your undergraduate career, please consider donating to this
scholarship fund.
